GMD Stylist Picks of the week
Every week our Stylist Picks features dresses from the GMD wardrobe handpicked by some of the most discerning eyes in fashion, from stylists to bloggers.
Each style-savvy contributor comments on their favourite styles, and gives tips on how to achieve a complete, occasion-ready look whether you are renting a prom dress, a wedding guest dress or a cocktail dress.

If you're a real girl about town you don't want to get caught wearing the same dress too many times - which is why I'd sooner rent the most striking pieces to ring the changes. Here's what's on my wish list for the party season and beyond.

Launch party fun
This Marc Jacobs purple silk dress is flirty and feminine, and can be dressed up or down according to the type of invitation. I'll be adding black shoe boots and a leather jacket for an edgy urban take.

Scorching hot date
I can't wait to get hold of this bold red Gorgeous Couture number and wear it with confidence. Confidence is the sexiest accessory (same goes for a pair of pointed toe killer heels, and some big earrings).

Cocktail soiree
This sculptural wonder by 3.1 Phillip Lim will nip you in at the waist and turn you into a 1950s pin-up girl. Rent the Sara Berman box clutch and wear two-tone ankle strap heels for vintage glamour with a modern twist.

Business pitch
You only have 15 seconds to make a good first impression, so invest in this season's wine coloured beauty by Alice and Olivia and show yourself off to perfection. Team with brogues with a high chunky heel and minimal jewellery.

Party of the year
Can't wait to get out and sparkle in this stunning Malene Birger sequinned number. I'll add a neutral peep-toed platform shoe to lengthen legs, grab the Wilbur and Gussie evening bag and dance the night away.
