Frequently asked questions
Choosing and trying on
Do I need a membership to hire a dress?
No. Hire individually for each occasion with rent as you go, or join GMD Infinite for £99 a month.
Do you have a showroom?
We no longer have a showroom. Browse our dresses online, or ask our team for styling advice and personalised dress suggestion lists for your event dates.
Can I order a few dresses and choose which to wear?
For rent-as-you-go hires, you can order up to three dresses to try on. Return them together after your event and we’ll refund the dresses you haven’t worn. Members can have up to three dresses at a time as part of their membership.
What if my dresses don’t fit?
For rent-as-you-go orders, we process a refund for unworn dresses once they have been returned to us. Our team can also help with fit advice before you order.
Can I try on dresses before my event?
You can try on your dresses when they arrive for your event. For events more than four weeks away, the advance try-on service costs £30 per order and can be selected at checkout.
What if I’m worried about gown length?
We have different gown lengths. Email enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com before ordering if you would like advice.
Hire dates and delivery
How long can I hire a dress for?
Choose a two-night or seven-night hire on the website. If you need longer, email enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com to discuss your dates.
When does my hire period start?
Your hire period starts on the day your dresses are delivered. For example, a two-night hire delivered on Tuesday is returned on Thursday. Follow the return date supplied with your order.
How do you know when to deliver?
Tell us your event date when booking so we can arrange delivery for your occasion. We’ll keep you informed about dispatch and delivery.
Can members book several events ahead?
Yes. Members can line up orders for different event dates and we’ll deliver at the right time, subject to availability. You can have up to three dresses at any one time.
Returns and cleaning
Are returns free?
Free returns (excl. members).
How do I return my dresses?
Use the original packaging and the return address label supplied. Follow your order’s return instructions and keep your proof of postage. Free returns (excl. members).
Do I need to clean the dresses?
No. We take care of dry cleaning after your hire.
When will I receive my refund?
After your parcel arrives back, we’ll process the refund and notify you by email. Standard returns can take up to 14 working days to process, depending on the season.
Membership and help
How much is GMD Infinite membership?
£99 a month, with a two-month minimum (£198 in membership payments). Delivery to you and dry cleaning are included. Members pay for return delivery.
Do I need a PayPal account?
No. Membership payments are processed through PayPal, but you don’t need a PayPal account. Payments renew automatically each month.
How much notice is needed to cancel membership?
Give at least two weeks’ notice before your next billing cycle. The two-month minimum membership still applies. Contact customersupport@girlmeetsdress.com for help.
How do I get styling advice or contact the team?
Email enquiries@girlmeetsdress.com with your question, occasion and event date. We can send personalised dress suggestions.
